RDR2 modding tool and RPF8 viewer: RPFView for Red Dead Redemption 2

The modding tool GTA V players know has headed west. Open the game's archives like folders, find any file, view its textures and models and export what you need, with your game files left untouched, and make clothing images for RedM servers.

Out now, in beta

Now riding in RPFView

Red Dead Redemption 2 opens the way GTA V does: pick it when RPFView starts, or with File → Switch game, and its files are there. Nothing to set up.

  • Every archive of the game opens like a folder, archives inside archives too.
  • Search finds a file by name across all of them.
  • Textures show in the preview and save as DDS or PNG.
  • Models turn around in 3D, with their textures.
  • Export saves any file to your PC. The game folder stays as it is.

Drawable viewer

RDR2 drawables in 3D

The game's models are drawables: .ydr for props and weapons, .ydd for clothing and other sets of models, and .yft for wagons and other things that break. RPFView shows them with their textures and exports them.

  • Click a .ydr, .ydd or .yft and it turns around in 3D, with the textures the game would give it.
  • LOD picks the level of detail, Drawable the model inside a .ydd that holds several.
  • Export saves it as glTF (.glb, textures inside) or OBJ for Blender; Export as… does many at once.
  • Drawable Studio opens them too: try other textures on a model and export the result. Saving into the game is not possible, because RDR2 archives cannot be edited yet.

Wagons and coaches come out in a plain wood colour: the game picks their paint when they appear. Step by step: export RDR2 textures and models.
